Tullis Russell draws the crowds

Scottish Papermaker Tullis Russell recently supported The Big Draw, the single biggest arts event held in the UK, by donating a wide assortment of its leading paper and board brands.

The Big Draw event, now in its seventh consecutive year, brought together thousands of promising artists to celebrate the art of drawing and architecture at Somerset House Trust and King’s College London. The Big Draw campaign forms part of The Campaign For Drawing and aims to engage with everyone regardless of technical ability. Big Draw events are a chance for young and old to experiment, enjoy and explore new materials, ideas and experiences which challenge conventional definitions of drawing.

The climax of the launch activity was The Big Celebrity Frame during which the legendary Quentin Blake and fellow leading practitioners captivated thousand of young artists by adding drawings, cartoons and designs to an epic frame using paper donated by Tullis Russell.

Sue Grayson Ford, campaign director for The Big Draw, heralded the event a resounding success and remarked “The quality and variety of paper offered to our 6000 artists was one of the day’s conspicuous high points. Tullis Russell’s contribution provided participants with high quality paper on which they could realise their creations.”

Derek Guthrie of Tullis Russell commented “The great thing about The Big Draw is that it involves so many people, young and old, from all parts of the country. It’s really satisfying to see our products put to such good use in such a creative manner.”
