Tullis Russell Group Increases Profits but Warns of Exceptionally Tough Current Trading Conditions
Tullis Russell the independent, employee owned papermaking and coating company increased its group profits in year ending March 2006 to £4.2m from £4.1m a year earlier. Chief Executive, Don Munro commented, ‘This was a good performance in difficult trading conditions, brought about by soaring energy costs, and continued increases in other raw materials and overheads. These increases were particularly severe within our Papermaking business during the second half of the year and look likely to persist during the current year
A continued focus on our cost base and increases in selling prices will be essential over the coming months given the extremely challenging business situation’
