TULLIS RUSSELL ON THE PAPER TRAIL

Tullis Russell Papermakers is one of the supporting sponsors of “The Paper Trail”, the UK’s first ever national centre for paper, due to open to the public in Spring 2004. The aim of the project, is to celebrate and promote paper’s historical role in society at the birthplace of its industrial beginnings and to demonstrate its future role as a sustainable communications medium.

As part of the sponsorship, Tullis Russell has supplied its Trucard Duo and Duo Matt boards for the production of a 3D scale model of the site which is currently touring trade exhibitions throughout the UK and will be on display at IPEX, NEC Birmingham in April 2002.

Located on a four-acre site at Apsley, just south of Hemel Hempstead, the centre will feature the real-life working Frogmore Mill, visitor centre at Apsley Mill and will also include a purpose-built pavilion. The pavilion will house a paper science and innovation centre featuring a series of interactive and entertaining exhibitions, a national paper school offering innovative courses in paper-making and the museum of paper communication.

The centre will function as an educational and training resource for industry, schools, colleges and the public. A café, restaurant, gift shop, hotel, pub and offices will be alongside the mill’s commercial activities.
